WHO IS GOD? A. God is the creator of the world and everything in it. “... the Lord of the heaven and earth, the giver of life and the sovereign ruler of the universe.” (Acts 17:24-26). B. God is absolutely holy, and He demands perfect holiness from us. “Therefore, you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.” (Matt. 5:48). "but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, 'be holy for I am holy” (1 Pet. 1:15-16). “Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord...” (Heb. 12:14). C. God's holiness means that He is separated from all that is sinful, impure, or imperfect. “ “No one is holy like the Lord, for there is none besides You, nor is there any rock like our God”.” (1 Sam. 2:2). D. God hates sin, and sinners cannot stand before Him. “You are of purer eyes than to behold evil, and cannot look on wickedness.” (Hab. 1:13). “Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.” (Ps. 1:5). E. God being holy, sin is contrary to His nature. “For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness, nor shall evil dwell with You. The boastful shall not stand in Your sight; You hate all workers of iniquity. You shall destroy those who speak falsehood; the Lord abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man.” (Ps. 5:4-6). “God is a just judge, and God is angry with the wicked every day.” (Ps.7:11).
WHY DID GOD CREATE MAN? A. God created man in His own image. “So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” (Gen. 1:27). B. God created man to seek Him and find Him. “And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth…so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him…” (Acts 17:26-27). C. God created man for His own glory. “Everyone who is called by My name, whom I have created for My glory; I have formed him, yes, I have made him.” (Is. 43:7). D. God created man to have perfect fellowship with Him. “that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.” (1 John 1:3).
WHAT'S MAN'S GREATEST PROBLEM? A. Man chose to rebel against God and reject His authority in his life. Sin corrupted his nature and this is where his problem began. “The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none who does good. The Lord looks down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there are any who understand, who seek God. They have all turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is none who does good, no, not one” (Ps. 14:1-3). B. All men are sinners by nature and practice. “…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…” (Rom. 3:23). “As it is written: There is none righteous, no, not one; there is none who understands; there is none who seeks after God. They have all turned aside; they have together become unprofitable; there is none who does good, no, not one...There is no fear of God before their eyes” (Rom. 3:10-12, 18). “For there is not a just man on earth who does good and does not sin” (Eccl. 7:20).
WHAT IS SIN? A. Sin is any failure to conform to the perfect moral standard of God in act, attitude or nature. It is any thought, word or action that is against His expressed will. It means “missing the mark.” B. Sin is lawlessness, unrighteousness, and failure to do good. “Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.” (1 John 3:4) “All unrighteousness is sin…” (1 John 5:17) and “Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.” (James 4:17). C. Sin is filthy. In the Bible, it has been compared to vomit, a more, and a putrefying corpse. “There is a kind who is pure in his own eyes, Yyet is not washed from his filthiness.” (Prov. 30:12). “…A dog returns to his own vomit…” (2 Pet. 2:22). “…a sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire” (2 Pet. 2:22). “…For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness.” (Matt. 23:27). D. Even the smallest sin is worthy of the same severe penalty. “For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all.” (James 2:10,See also Matt. 5:21-22, 28). E. Sin entered the world through Adam and Eve and all of humanity inherited their sinful nature. “Therefore just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned.” (Rom. 5:12). F. This sinful nature is present from the moment of conception and all are born sinners and spiritually dead. It is thus impossible for man to live in a way that pleases God. “Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me.” (Ps. 51:5), “The wicked are estranged from the womb; they go astray as soon as they are born, speaking lies.” (Ps. 58:3).
WHAT IS SIN'S PENALTY & IT'S CONSEQUENCES? A. The penalty of sin is spiritual death and separation from God. Because of man’s inherent sinful nature, he is born spiritually dead and separated from God. God made Adam and Eve free from the dominion of sin and they were under no compulsion to choose evil. But their sin brought upon them and the entire human race this sinful nature that resulted in their spiritual death and separation from God. This sinful nature does not subject itself to God's authority as it is under the power and influence of Satan. And man is not spiritually dead and separated from God because of sinful acts that he committed but because of his sinful nature. So even before man has died physically, he is already dead spiritually. “For the wages of sin is death…” (Rom. 6:23a). “But your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear.” (Is. 59:2). “And you…who were dead in trespasses and sins…” (Eph. 2:1). “[The Gentiles] have their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart…” (Eph. 4:18). B. Since man is spiritually dead, he cannot understand spiritual truths and do anything spiritually good. Man is so spiritually bankrupt that he is blind to spiritual truths and incapable of seeking, understanding and believing God. He has no ability to do anything good spiritually (total depravity) or to work for his own salvation from sin and its consequence of eternal death. “But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” (1 Cor. 2:14). “…the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.” (Eph. 4:18-19). “To… those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but even their mind and conscience are defiled.” (Titus 1:15). C. All men will die physically – there is no exception. Physical death is separation of the soul from the earthly body. “ “And it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment.” ” (Heb. 9:27). D. If a man dies physically and has not been born again, he will suffer eternal death. Jesus Christ emphasizes that the fatal, unforgivable and eternal sin is failure to believe in Him as Savior and Lord. “…[The Lord Jesus] in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power…” (2 Thess. 1:8-9). “Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.” (John 8:24). “…the soul who sins shall die.” (Ezek. 18:4). “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God… He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” (John 3:18). E. Eternal death is punishment of everlasting destruction in hell. Hell is the final destination of the unbeliever. It is described as a fiery place of unspeakable suffering and agony, a lake burning with fire and brimstone, where he is punished forever, permanently and irreversibly separated from God. He is banished from the smallest help or comfort that God’s presence brings and when he is sent to hell, he can not leave it anymore (Luke 16:19-31). “ “But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” ” (Rev. 21:8). “The Son of Man will … gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.” (Matt. 13:41-42). “And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.” (Rev. 20:15). F. Man has no power within himself to repent, to believe the Gospel, or to come to Christ for salvation. Sin is such an incurable spiritual disease that it cannot be treated by human means. Efforts to reach out to God through religions, programs of moral reformation, educational renewals, pieces of legislation, counseling and acts of righteousness such as charitable works and philanthropic deeds are not acceptable to Him. The smallest sin is so exceedingly despicable before God that He will not and cannot overlook the sin without exacting its fullest penalty. “Can the Ethiopian change his skin or the leopard its spots?” (Jer.13:23a). “Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.” (Rom.8:7-8). “But we are all like an unclean thing and all our righteousness are like filthy rags…” (Is. 64:6). “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him…” (John 6:44). But there is good news! God has provided a way to bridge this separation. He sent His Son, Jesus Christ to save man from the certainty of eternal death and to reconcile man to Himself.
WHO IS JESUS CHRIST? A. Jesus Christ was offered up as a sacrifice for our sin on the cross to satisfy the demands of God’s holiness that sin be punished. The sacrifice for sin had to be perfect and spotless and only Jesus Christ lived a sinless, holy life in perfect obedience to God's law. He came to bear the on the cross the full penalty of the sins of all those who will believe in Him. And only shed blood of Jesus Christ could have atoned for all the believers’ sins. B. Jesus Christ is completely and eternally God. Jesus Christ is God and He is from eternity. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.” (John 1:1-3). “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.” (Col. 1:15). C. Jesus Christ is Lord of all. “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Phil. 2:9-11). “…He is Lord of all…” (Acts 10:36). D. Jesus became man. He is the visible manifestation of the invisible God. “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14). “[Jesus Christ] who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.” (Phil. 2:6-7). E. Jesus Christ is completely pure and sinless. “[Jesus Christ] who committed no sin, nor was deceit found in His mouth” (; who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously…” (1 Pet. 2:22-23). “For such a High Priest was fitting for us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and has become higher than the heavens…” (Heb. 7:26). “For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.” (Heb. 4:15). F. Jesus Christ is the only way to God the Father. “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6). “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12). “For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus…” (1 Tim. 2:5). G. The finished and complete atoning work of Jesus Christ alone made possible the salvation of sinners. H. Jesus Christ died for us because God loves us. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16). “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (.Rom. 5:8). “In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” (1 John 4:10). “This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.” (1 Tim. 1:15.) I. Jesus Christ became a substitute and died our death for us. God the Father treated Jesus Christ as if He was a sinner and had Him die as a substitute to pay the penalty for the sins of those who believe in Him. Only the death of Jesus Christ could satisfy His offended holiness and His demand for the payment of our sins. His atoning sacrifice brought redemption, forgiveness and complete salvation for those who believe. “Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.” (Rom. 3:25-26). “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” (2 Cor. 5:21). “Jesus Christ who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.” (Titus 2:14). “Jesus Christ Himself bore our sins in His own body on the cross, that we having died to sins might live for righteousness…” (1 Pet. 2:24a). “And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.” (1 John 2:2). J. Jesus Christ paid in full the penalty of our sins. “… [Jesus Christ] who does not need daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the people's, for this He did once for all when He offered up Himself.” (Heb. 7:27). “But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God…” (Heb. 10:12). K. Jesus Christ rose from the grave. “and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures…” (1 Cor.15:4). “which [God] worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church…” (Eph. 1:20-23).
WHAT IS SALVATION? A. Salvation is a free gift by God's grace alone. Salvation means “deliverance” or “rescue.”. It delivers man from the power and dominion of sin and its ultimate penalty which is separation from God and eternal punishment in hell. It also gifts the sinner with a new, Holy Spirit-generated and empowered life as an heir and member of God's own family. “…but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Rom. 6:23b). B. The application of salvation is accomplished solely through the Holy Spirit’s work and not by anything in man or anything he has done. Even man’s response to God does not make him worthy of His acceptance. Man does not deserve what God has done through Christ. He understands the gospel and is saved only because of His grace. This is the central truth of salvation – salvation by faith in Christ alone by His grace alone. “For by grace you have been saved through faith and that not of yourselves, it is a gift of God, not as a result of works that no one should boast.” (Eph. 2:8-9). “Jesus said, “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him…” (John 6:44). “And Jesus said, “Therefore I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father.” (John 6:65). “(God) who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began…” (2 Tim 1:9). “not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior…” (Titus 3:5-6).
WHAT MUST MEAN DO TO BE SAVED AND HAVE ETERNAL LIFE? A. Man must be born again. Since man is by nature spiritually dead and separated from God because of sin, it is the secret and special work of the Holy Spirit through regeneration that performs a work of grace within the sinner bringing him to faith in Christ, creating within him a new spiritual nature and enabling him to understand and believe in spiritual truths. In John 3:3 Jesus Christ tells the Pharisee Nicodemus “You must be born again.” In verses 5 to 7, He reiterates, “Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. “That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. “Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’” B. Man must repent of his sins. By the grace of God, when a sinner repents and places his faith in Jesus Christ, God gives him a new spiritual life, declares him righteous by imputing the righteousness of Christ to him and gives him eternal life because of the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ on the cross as the penalty for the sinner’s iniquities. To be genuinely saved, God requires that people repent, turning from a life of sin to believing and trusting in Jesus Christ as only Lord and Savior. “ “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,” ” (Acts 3:19; See Also- Matt. 4:17, Acts 2:38, 17:30 and 26:20, 2 Cor. 7:11, 1 Thess. 1:9 and 2 Pet. 3:9) What these passages says about repentance are: Repentance is a heartfelt sorrow for sin, a sincere commitment to renounce and forsake sin and turn to obedience to Christ. It is a radical change of mind and heart, a spiritual about face, which turns an individual from love of sin to a pursuit of God and His holiness. Repentance involves an intellectual understanding that sin is wrong and that it is rebellion against a holy God. Repentance involves an emotional approval of all that the Scripture teaches regarding sin resulting in genuine sorrow and shame for sin’s filthiness Repentance involves a personal decision to turn away from sin, to seek pardon and cleansing and to lead a life of obedience to Christ. C. Man must believe by faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.To believe means to trust in Christ by faith as our Savior, the only means to forgiveness of sin and salvation from its penalty and the only hope to eternal life with God. Believing in Jesus Christ involves the following: an understanding of the gospel and the truth that Christ alone saves, a settled conviction that man is a sinner in need of a Savior and that only Christ’s salvation is applicable to his own soul and a personal decision to place complete trust in and wholehearted surrender to Jesus Christ as Savior and the only hope of salvation. “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Rom. 10:9). “As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name…” (John 1:12). “So they said, &ldqyuo;Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.'” (Acts 16:31). D. Man must submit to the lordship of Jesus Christ.There is cost involved in following Jesus Christ. While salvation is absolutely free and includes everything man needs for spiritual life, there is a cost of discipleship that results from salvation (Luke 14:26-33), and only those willing to carefully assess the cost and invest all they have in His kingdom are worthy to enter. The cost is more than just the giving up of one's material possessions but involves an absolute, unconditional commitment and surrender of life to Him. “Then he said to them all, 'If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me.'” (Luke 9:23) “ “But why do you call Me 'Lord, Lord,' and not do the things which I say?” ” (Luke 6:46). “Then Jesus said…'If you abide in My Word, you are My disciples indeed.'” (John 8:31). “Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says, 'I know Him,' and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.” (1 John 2:3-6). “For the love of Christ compels us…; and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.” (2 Cor. 5:14-15). E. We urge you to trust Christ. God has given you an opportunity to hear about this great news of His salvation. This is not an accident (Ps. 115:7, Ps. 135:6 and Rom. 11:36). Do not to take this glorious message of God’s salvation lightly. Put your trust in Christ Jesus, for He alone can save sinners. “… whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame and …whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Rom. 10:11-13). “We then as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain. For He says: In an acceptable time I have heard you, and in the day of salvation I have helped you.” (2 Cor. 6:1-2). “Seek the Lord while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the Lord, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon.” (Is. 55:6-7). “Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.” (2 Cor. 5:20). At this point, it maybe helpful to ask these questions: Do you believe that God is your Sovereign Creator and the Almighty God? Do you believe that He made you to seek Him, to give Him glory and to live in perfect fellowship with Him? Do you admit that you are sinful, spiritually dead and helpless to save yourself from everlasting destruction? Do you believe that only Jesus Christ could save you, not your own good works or best efforts?
WHAT MUST MEAN TO BE SAVED? A. You have been born-again and have received a new spiritual life. Being born-again (spiritual rebirth or regeneration) is the secret, sovereign work of the Holy Spirit not controlled by human means whereby a new spiritual life is imparted to you, the sinner. “ “For as the Father raises the dead and gives life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom He wills. ” ” (John 5:21). “And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins…5even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved)…” (Eph. 2:1, 5). “And you, being dead in your trespasses… He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses…” (Col. 2:13). “But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior…” (Titus 3:4-6). B. You have been declared righteous and your sins have been forgiven. To be declared righteous means to be justified. Justification is an instantaneous legal act of God in which He forgives the sinner of his sins and imputes Christ’s righteousness to him declaring him to be righteous in His sight. “He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.” (Col. 1:14). “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.” (Eph. 1:7). “But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed…through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.” (Rom. 3:21-26). “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus…” (Rom 8:1). “[K]nowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.” (Gal. 2:16). C. You have become a child of God and an heir in His kingdom. All those who are truly born-again become members of God’s family and enjoy the many privileges of membership. “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” (John 1:12-13). “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” ( The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.” (Rom. 8:14-17) “For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.” (Gal. 3:26). “But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” ( Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.” (Gal. 4:4-7). “In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory. In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.” (Eph. 1:11-14). “that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” (Titus 3:7) “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you…” (1 Pet. 1:3-4). D. You have become a new person in Christ and have been set apart for growth in His holiness and likeness. God will work progressively in the life of those who are truly born-again to make him more and more free from sin and to make him walk in holiness and righteousness that he maybe like Christ in his life (sanctification). “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” (2 Cor. 5:17). “'I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.’ ” (Ezek. 36:26-27). “[B]eseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…” (Rom. 12:1-2). “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” (2 Cor. 3:18). “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” (Eph. 2:10). “Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.” (Phil. 2:12-13). E. You are now safe and secure. All those who are truly born-again will be kept by God’s power and will persevere as Christians until the end of their lives. Only those who persevere until the end have been truly born-again. “ “For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.’ ’ (Rom. 8:38-39). F. You have been saved unto eternal life in heaven. All those who are truly born-again have been predestined unto eternal glory and are therefore assured of heaven. In the future also, Christ will return and raise from the dead the bodies of all believers who have died and He will reunite them with their souls and change the bodies of all believers who remain alive so all believers at the same time are given perfect resurrection bodies like His own. “And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God… And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.” (1 John 5:11-13, 20). “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life… Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.” (John 5:24, 28-29). “For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.” (Phil. 3:20-21).
